Good Info.
I'm Glad that I can Help.
Is it PCV or PCB? He says it both ways.
You dragging yo words is mad annoying
I have gotten better (I think) Thank you for the view and that input.
Now I understand. Thank you
You are Welcome. I am Glad I could Help.
Thank you for this video. Got my ac working on my old mans car and about to try my brothers bmw but needed more info!!
You are Welcome. I'm happy I can help. Thank you for the views and that positive comment.
Seems like AC is needed there :-)))) its texas ?
I suggest to use some respiratory protection. Isnt it better to be protected ? We only have one health 😊 I do use when doing paint jobs. Even during degreasing the surface by technicalky gasoline. Thank you for another one nice video, just now I am "revivaling" Tatra 613-4. Not so old, but also veeery nice car.
Thank you for your suggestion. You are so correct. Also thank you for the views and the comments.
thanks for the informative video. very practical and easy to understand. watching from Baler, Philippines. Salamat
You are Welcome and thank you for the views and the comments.
God bless you kind sir! watching from the Philippines.
Awesome...! Thank you in the Philippines.
PERCEPTIVE, The Old Mecanico Show 👍 Bottle of water is very good for your body 💧 The Old Mecanico Show From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧 ⏰️ 23:48pm Good Evening
Thank you for the suggestion about the water. It's HOT HOT HOT here in Texas.
Profe, it looked better with the old patina. Just clearcoat it, (with a roller even!) and instantly Se ve pura machin!
In "sequence"; Did you have Key in ON, position? going to say yes, but missed that part Past car, i heard Fuel Pump run with Key in On position, Car now will Not run Pump Until Key is turned to Start. But wil Do the 'Wack' on Tank with Love. thanks.
Thank you for the question. I hope I can answer your question. It's called "Fuel Pump Priming". This is for most normal operating vehicle( not broken car) As so as the key is turned to the on position, the fuel pump should start to operate . AS the key is turned to the start position, the pump should say on. If you turn the key ONLY to the on position, average pumps should operate about 3-6 seconds. Every vehicle is different.
Please give me an advice. You suggest to use 110psi Automotive test solutions claim to not to get over 200psi cos can damage evap core Scanner danner claim,, 300psi is maximum. Now I do not know what to choose. Please, give me some more informations. You would help to me really a lot. Four cars with ac problem are wsiting for my hands and head. Big thanks
The evaporator can NOT handle more than 200 psi. I would not exceed 120 psi. Look at the low side pressure gauge max psi. After 120 psi it goes into "Retard" (look at it). I joke with the students but I think the gauge goes into psi measurements that are NOT accurate. I have had students misuse the nitrogen regulator and "Pop" the evap.
Dear Teacher. huge huge, THANK YOU I ve putted there 275psi[ I know, I get/am retard :-))) ], I wanted to get 300psi but was not possible. Fortunatelly. 275psi was there for some... 16hours approx. Fortunately nothing, the vehicle is octavia 1, seems everything OK. no leaks. During the night the pressure got a bit down ( do assume cos temperature, the gas was CO2) but then got back up. Will not repeat huge pressure. I do promiss :) btw. my gauges are also rude, and I was laughing above "retard" too. Have a nice day Teacher, and again, huge thanj you and my gratitude
@@razdva402 I'm Glad to Help. Break a Leg / Good Luck my You Tube Friend.
@@theoldmecanicoshow9004The Teacher. You was right. 😅😅😅 I am a retard 😅😅😅,,,, cos,,,, low pressure gauge has damaged, I do assume, cos too high pressure in. I had 275psi in. Now, it shows around 10psi, even with no pressure in. Highly likely the "spring sheet" in, has bended. Thank you again for the advices and all videos too. And I do wish nice time by painting the old truck. 😊
@@razdva402 Thank You Thank You Thank You...!
now you know why the chevy equinox is like a bic lighter.disposable indeed,2.4 engines are junk/
I Agree, Thank you for the view and the comment.
Re the PCV video . Could a 4cyl engine potentially have its pcv system boosted up to function at optimum effect ? Perhaps a vaccume tank or a way to eliminate the pulse causing paper to flutter... your way of teaching is great to digest = Happy Kiwis . Thankyou 😊
For all that time the 9V battery was connected, I was expecting it to explode. IMPORTANT! Don't try this with an alkaline battery; minimize the amount of time both batteries are connected.
Someone help me out. How do i pull this pcv valve on chevrolet captiva 3.0 v6 2015 its not coming out i can twist 360 but it wont come out
Thank you sir! I just swapped out the 24 year old compressor on my ZR2 and had zero issues thank's to your video.
Your an asshole
BEST video I've seen about fixing car compressor, may you tell us how to unblock inner pistons? Thanks,
Thank you for the view and the question. I'm not sure I understand the question. The only time we took the compressor apart was to show the student the failures inside. Fifty years ago we would reseal / rebuild compressors. We don't do that any more. Some factories rebuild compressors.
I installed a new compressor I did not drain oil from the new one am I cooked
Getting a vaccine pulled on it tomorrow along with recahrge
Thank you for the question. It would be a good idea to add at least one more ounce of oil (maybe 2) during or after the charging. Some charge stations are able to let the vacuum to pull some oil in right before the charging. If the station does not do that, oil can be added after the charge using a pressurized 2 ounce can od oil. Break a Leg / Good Luck my You Tube friend.
You are my Hero !!! 🎉
AWESOME...! I'm Glad to help.
I was wondering about that patch I knew we were supposed to say ASE instead of ass good video for all of us. Do it yourself mechanic
You are Welcome and thank you for the view and that positive comment.
I replaced my rear AC condenser, valve, front condenser and valve plus dryer, new lines to the back, compressor. My question is can I blow out the old oil that may be left, I know I lost some on the ground and compressor has 0 as of now , didn't know to put it in first. Do I blow out old tho so I know it won't be over filled?
Yes you can blow out the remaining oil. In fact, it would be a very good idea to get that oil out. The auto parts (or online) sell a can of pressurized AC flush. It works great. Thank you for the view and the question. Break a Leg / Good luck my You Tube Friend.
Mr. Rogers of science! It's the very, very basic understanding and being comfortable with terms and principles that are so often missing. Been looking for the first part, but have to admit it got a bit overwhelming when you got into the fuses, even though I have some familiarity. So many nuggets to take in - you have so much to offer!
WOW WOW WOW...Thank you so much. That is going the "Make My Day" (fathers day 2024)
@@theoldmecanicoshow9004 I watched your video about the PCV valve first, and loved it. 🤔But Honda B-Series 4-bangers run forever, when properly maintained and still outlast most other regularly maintenenced engines when neglected...🤨 BTW, OUTSTANDING PCV Paper Trick!
Honda does NOT make good engines...they make GREAT engines. Thank you for the view and that input.
Is UA-cam your only content platform? Where can I get more?
Great video! I wish I had an instructor like you when I was in HVAC school 20+ years ago. I work in residential/light commercial but never auto. I have a question for you. I will be repairing an older neighbor’s 2004 F150 after hearing his compressor rattling. There is still enough life in the compressor for me to get pressure readings within an acceptable range. He stated he had the whole AC system replaced in 2021 and it looks fairly new. I also probed for leaks and didn’t detect any. I can pick up a new compressor at our local auto store right now, but it’s labeled as dry and needs 6.75oz of PAG 46 oil. Is it possible for me to swap out the compressor without putting a new accumulator? Can I fill the suction hole on the compressor with 6.75oz of PAG 46 oil that is labeled on the sticker, rotate it slowly 10 times, hook the lines back up, pull a vacuum, and recharge to get him by until he figures out what he wants to do long term?
It's usually a good idea to replace the accumulator or drier. I believe you get a "Longer" warrantee from the auto parts. In fact, some auto parts will give 30 day warrantee if you don't buy the accumm. And another reason to replace the accumm is helps to get the correct amount of oil in the system. Yes you can pour oil into suction hose and turn compressor like you stated. Break a Leg / Good Luck my You Tube friend.
This video could have been <5 minutes
I see that now. Live and Learn. Thank you for the view and the comment.
Sir, you are an amazing professor! I'm still confused about a car that has a system that is fully charged and the compressor is running with clutch engagement. The static pressure doesn't change with the car running. The compressor sounds quiet. The question I have is; could there be an issue with the block type valve by the evaporator being stuck open that would cause the gauges to show no change from the static( engine off) pressures? Thank You so much! I'm learning volumes!
Leaving the gauge set "Handwheels" open (they should be closed) will cause the reading you state. Is the system cooling the inside of the vehicle? If it is NOT cooling, you probably have a clutch-less compressor. The stroke of the pistons are controlled by the angle of the wobble plate. The angle of the wobble plate is controlled by a solenoid on the compressor. You need to check Body Codes under the HVAC section. Break a Leg / Good Luck my You Tube Friend.
Hello, its summer can you please make a full video on how to recharge a/c , I like so much the way you teach a/c system, thank you
I have taken out pcv system on Golf MK4 GTI in order to see if i will continue to have positive pressure, and yes i have, wy is happening that? Does pcv system transform positive pressure to negative or not?
Thank you for the question. Yes the PCV system transfers positive CCP (crankcase pressure) to negative CCP.
@@theoldmecanicoshow9004 thank you very much, i will install it again . I heared that also the pipe from turbo to the oil pan if it is dirty , will increase the pressure, is it right ?
@@jimakos75 The pipe from the turbo to the oil pan is for the oil that lubricates the turbo to "Drain" the oil back to the oil pan. Thank you for the question. Break a Leg / Good Luck my You Tube Friend.
@@theoldmecanicoshow9004 thank you again !!
Hi. I have a question: I just purchased a gage and it show at low side 36 PSI and 227 high side at 99- degree Fahrenheit in the garage. is a Kia soul 2012 automatic 2.0L is this low in freon? --- The compressor is leaking some oil, dropping when is in use. I'm planning to replace it when summer pass. By the chart you sow it looks like it need freon. Thank you in advance. is cooling good inside.
Hello. Thank you for the view and the question. Here is one of my AC videos (15 in all) that can help to answer your question: Break a Leg / Good Luck : ua-cam.com/video/AaxzV0WMTek/v-deo.html
@@theoldmecanicoshow9004 Thank you. I was looking for this video until now. -- I got another: Elantra 2008, automatic with 176K miles. One can of freon added last year for the first time. -- 91 Degree F in the garage- humidity 20% or less. -- Low side:37 PSI------- High side: 210 PSI -- Static pressure: low side:114, and high side: 120 Compressor never stop, it keeps working, fan working, and cooling very nice inside. How do you see it? Both of my Cars have one Fan.
@@irisbaez1972 Your vehicles probably have "Clutch-less" compressors. The clutch never stops turning. The control of the pistons is done by controlling the angle of the wobble plate. The angle of the wobble plate can go from Full stroke of the pistons to almost zero stroke of the pistons. Bottom line...if it's Cold inside, it's good. Break a Leg as always.
@@theoldmecanicoshow9004 Both on Kia soul and Elantra has Clutch. They are not controlled by any Valve that I see in other Compressors. They don't turn on after I turn the A/C inside the car. What do you think is better with the Kia soul: change the compressor after summer or just leave it until it dies? I have the new one already to be installed. -- Do you think I need more freon on both cases or they are good like that? Both are cooling inside the cars to around 41-42 degree. === I know there are a lot of people asking you, and I really appreciate your reply. Thank you.
@@irisbaez1972 They would fool me at first. It looks like a clutch...but it never turns off. I say leave as long as possible and hopefully it will not fail at an inconvenient time.
I have a compressor that is starting to make noise. It still works fine currently. I plan to replace the compressor before it gets worse so i plan to replace the compressor and dryer only. When doing so, do I add the full amount of PAG oil that is required in the system or do I need to account for the oil that is still in the lines etc?
Correctly "Guessing" at the amount of oil that is in the system ( lines / evap /condenser / other) is impossible. The "Only" way to say that the system is empty of oil is to do three things: flush lines, evap and the condenser. It not that hard to flush the system. Get one or two cans of pressurized flush in a can. Compressed air is a great chaser for the flush. Add half of system capacity to the compressor and the rest of the oil either in the accumulator or drier. Thank you for the view and the question.
Forgot thing 2 and 3: Thing 2 is drain the compressor and # 3 is replace drying element ( drier / accum)

What happens if you add the oil to both ports and then install it. Which is what I did Not really knowing which port to add it to. I haven't turn the system on yet and after seeing this video. I'm going to remove it and drain it.
Thank you for the view and the question. Correct oil level is IMPORTANT . I have drained 100's of new and reman compressors. Rarely do they have the oil the instructions claim. Draining the compressor is no big deal. I like to turn the clutch to work the guts of the compressor during the draining. I also like to turn the clutch AFTER adding half of system capacity. If for put oil in the discharge port, it will pump out of the compressor. Break a Leg / Good Luck on your repair my You Tube friend.
